 Personal Gear
Required
  • Sufficient number of undergarments for at least one week
  • Athletic gear - bathing suit for survival craft training, gym clothing, socks, sneakers (A sweat suit is recommended but not required)
  • Personal toiletries
  • Sturdy, closed-toe, rubber-soled work shoes or rubber-soled gym shoes for wear aboard ship. (Steel-toe work boots are desirable, but not required)
  • Folding pocket knife (sheath knives are not permitted)
Recommended
  • Snug-fitting leather work gloves
  • Foul weather gear - jacket and pants. Working conditions include rain, fog, and sea spray. If you already own this gear, feel free to bring it. However, we recommend that you not rush out to purchase these items before consulting with the training staff. There will be ample time to outfit yourself before working in wet outdoor conditions.
  • Bathrobe and shower clogs (shower and sink facilities are shared between adjoining rooms, toilets are located in separate bathrooms in the hall)
  • Extra civilian shirts, slacks, and blouses or outfits for the first week and for casual wear on liberty
  • Radio, camera, etc.
  • Laundry bag (common-use laundry facility shared with Academy Midshipmen)
Miscellaneous
  • Commercial washers and dryers are available at no cost
  • Towels and linens are provided
  • You will need additional luggage for your uniforms when leaving Kings Point. Nylon duffel bags are recommended and are available locally.
